Greetings! Summer is just beginning and gas prices are rising steadily. This is the perfect opportunity to invest in a bicycle and ride to work or car pool with friends. If you are one of the many people in Kentucky who cannot afford insurance for your children or teens, there is good news! Free or low-cost health insurance is available from the Kentucky Children’s Health Insurance Program (KCHIP). KCHIP enrollment specialist Janie Koch is available at Bullitt Co. Health Department on Thursday’s from 8:00-4:30 or you can call 1-800-578-0603 for assistance. The incidence of swine flu has slowed across the state with a total of 102 cases. Now that school is out for the summer, please take this opportunity to schedule an appointment for school physicals and immunizations. To make an appointment call us at 502-955-7837. In closing, I’m Swannie Jett your new director of the Bullitt County Health Department. My experience in public health spans over 14 years. I look forward to serving the Bullitt County community and improving our health. I will be vigilant in preparing our community for emergent issues such as swine flu or the threat of bioterrorism. If you have any questions or concerns on how we can better serve you, call me at 502-955-7837. Have a Safe & Healthy Summer! Swannie Jett, DrPHc, Public Health Director
