CLERICAL POSITION- temporary/seasonal period

The Bullitt County Health Department is accepting applications for a clerical person to work full time with the clinical support staff for a temporary/seasonal period.  Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:  Assemble patient medical records and files.  Route/direct patient to appropriate staff person.  Answer multi-line phone system.  Schedule initial and follow-up patient appointments.  Pull and file charts, reports and records.  Minimum Education, Training or Experience:  High School Diploma or GED and one (1) year of moderately difficult business or public administrative experience in a medical, hospital or administrative office environment using electronic office equipment and professional software.  Substitution for Education, Training or Experience: Additional education (college, vocational school, etc.) in business education or a medically related field may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.  Salary:  $10.00/hr, no other benefits.  Applications may be obtained at the Bullitt County Health Department, 181 Lees Valley Road, Shepherdsville, KY  40165, 502-955-7837 or on-line at bullittcountyhealthdept.com.  Completed application must be returned by close of business September 3, 2010 to Bullitt County Health Dept.  Resume will not substitute for completed application.  Equal Opportunity Employer.

Family Support Worker/Home Visitor

General Duties include:  This position serves under general direction of the Program Coordinator and/or appropriate supervisor.  Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to; Conduct regular planned visits to establish a trusting rapport for voluntary eligible HANDS participant/s to assist first time parent/s and or families with child development, parenting skills, health services and other needed resources identified at assessment or during visits.  Maintain confidentiality of program information obtained from home visit/s and exchanged while communicating with community and support service providers.  Initiate and maintain regular and long term contact and provide support to first time voluntary parents during the prenatal period and extending up to, but not inclusive of the child’s second birthday, following parent visit assessment.  The responsibilities include home visitations that may take place in the client’s home or another community site if justified, that include (a) monitoring of the child’s, mother’s and family’s progress by making referrals to community resources; such as prenatal health services, school, head start, etc.  Tracking appointments to ensure they are being kept, performing follow-up services as identified and performing periodic evaluations of the participants’ changing needs, (b) preparation and maintenance of case records which shall be documented with contacts, services needed, reports and progress, (c) consultations and (d) crisis assistance.  Confer with Program Coordinator and/or Supervisor in cases involving potential collaboration with other service providers.

Minimum Education, Training or Experience:  High School Diploma or GED and experience in a Social or other health related field such as but not limited to, working with children, teens and adults in a daycare, medical office or facility, school etc., that provides a medical or a community support service. 

Special Requirements:  Must be 18 years of age, Must have telephone accessibility, Must have reliable transportation and valid Drivers License, Criminal Background Check

On the job training requirement needed within 6 months of hire in order to advance

HANDS home visitor core training (Must be completed before family contact can occur)

HANDS wrap-around required training (Specific topical areas checklist)

CPR Certification

Working knowledge of geographic area and/or ability to locate participants and community resources with use of maps, contacts and directions provided.

Salary:  Pay is based on success of home visits.  $33.00 - $38.00 per visit if successful, $10.00 if client is not home/not found

Hourly rate for mandated training/meetings:  $10.00 per hour  Grade 8

Local Health Nurse II

(Applications accepted on an ongoing basis)

The Bullitt County Health Department is accepting applications for a full time Local Health Nurse II.  Duties include, but are not limited to:  immunizations, interviewing and counseling clients, performing physical assessments of women and children, developing treatment plans, and providing patient/family health care education.  May be called on to mentor/oversee Local Health Nurse I. 

Minimum Requirements:  Must have a Registered Nurse (RN) license from Kentucky or compact state and one (1) year of RN experience.  BSN or Master’s Degree in Nursing, Nursing Administration, Nursing Education or Public Health may substitute for the one (1) year experience.  The successful applicant will be required to pass a criminal background check.  The minimum starting hourly rate of pay is $17.12 per hour (negotiable with additional qualifications, if applicable), with excellent benefits.
